Market of innovations has started to transform in 2016, quantity and quality of startups is raising and also are investments to the sector, informed the journalists acting general manager of JSC "Russian venture company" Evgeny Kuznetzov.
According to him, recent years and especially 2016 have performed quite positive development of innovations sector in Russia. Despite of all difficult circumstances there is a significant growth of the number of quality startups.
“The year 2016 itself is the year of such preparation for transformation of market of innovations in Russia. We do hope, that in 2017-2018 this iceberg will turn upside down and we will witness the huge splash of investments, because the number of investors has grown, so has the number of the companies, we also get more cooperation. We’ve overcome “the valley of death”, that was there several years ago”, - said Kuznetzov.
Thus, the number of tender participants is growing: 4,3 thousand of startups comparing with 3,5 thousand last year; the number of companies is also growing. Many universities have taken part as well, have started working by the model 3.0, started creating innovative infrastructures. Many companies have started making up innovative competitions, innovative startups, accelerators. “So, we can see that we’re moving in the right direction. This year we faced a very interesting thing – the number of investors willing to contribute in venture sphere has jumped up”, - explained Kuznetzov.
He also pointed out, that the companies haven’t documented their willingness yet, haven’t created venture funds or performed first investments, but have shown their interest. Generally, these are the companies and people, who used to invest into more conservative objects such as accommodation and currency, and now they are getting ready to invest in innovations. Many Russian funds have invested abroad and obtained a certain experience, positive or negative, and are now thinking of investing back.
According to RBK, at the end of the third quarter of 2016 the amount of deals with the certain volume at the market of venture investing has reached 80% of 2015 level and over 70% of the volume. At that, the observations show, that the last quarter of the year is usually characterized by particularly high activity, that allows to predict strengthening the market positions.
