Below is a summary of crimes registered in Russia and the CIS on Thursday, April 9

* Two dismembered bodies of unidentified men, packed in three plastic bags, have been found in the Moscow Canal outside the city, a police source said

* A 25-year-old man was detained in the Volga city of Togliatti on suspicion of robbing a shop and stabbing to death two sales assistants, aged 20 and 26, a spokesman for the local investigation department said

* Police in the northern Russian city of Petrozavodsk detained a man on suspicion of shooting his former wife to death in a property row, the republic of Karelia police department's press service said

* Armed muggers snatched a bag with 2.5 million rubles ($75,000) from a businessman in Moscow, a police source said

* Muggers beat and robbed the head of the legal department of Russia's largest university, the Moscow State University, a police source said. They fled with his bag, containing documents, a golden ring and 200,000 rubles ($6,000)

* Police in the town of Krasnoufimsk in the Urals have detained a man who stole jewelry worth 42,000 rubles ($1,200) from a church shop to pay back his bank loan, a police spokesman said

* Police in the eastern Ukrainian city of Konstantinovka are investigating an attack on a school music teacher by senior students, a police source said

* Police seized 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of heroin in the Eastern Siberian city of Chita, a police source said
