MOSCOW, April 10 (RIA Novosti) - The board of Russian
diamond giant Alrosa decided at a meeting on Friday to propose
to its supervisory committee a downwards revision of its 2009
forecasts for output, sales and profit parameters.
Under the proposed amendments, diamond production will be
forecast at $1.87 billion in 2009, with net profit for the year
at 2.18 billion rubles ($64.75 million).
The producer, which accounts for 25% of global diamond
output, said in a statement the amendment proposals followed a
substantial decrease in diamond sales and changes in the
ruble-dollar exchange rate.
