NEW DELHI, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - India successfully test-fired on Wednesday a Prithvi-II ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, Indian media reported. The ballistic missile, with an effective range of 150-250 kilometers, was test-fired from a mobile launcher at the Chandipur test range, defense sources said. The surface-to-surface missile can carry a 500 kg-to-1,000 kg warhead. An Indian navy vessel was anchored near the impact point in the Bay of Bengal and a long-range tracking radar was deployed to track the missile's flight. India is currently developing six different types of missiles for its armed forces. More news
