MOSCOW, April 17 (RIA Novosti) - Heavyweight
challenger David Haye from Britain stunned journalists when he
turned up for a pre-fight news conference wearing a "bad-taste"
t-shirt and declaring war on the Klitschko brothers.
IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko from
Ukraine was so enraged when he saw the cocky Londoner in a
t-shirt depicting Haye holding aloft the two decapitated heads
of the brothers, he pledged to "punish him" at their upcoming
bout on June 20 in Germany.
Normally restrained 'Dr. Steelhammer' Klitschko (52-3, 46
KOs) was quoted on the BoxingScene.com website as saying, "I
find the t-shirt in bad taste and cruel, but I will punish you.
I will make the fight a long trial and will only knock you out
in the 12th round."
The 28-year-old British boxer (22-1, 21 KOs) has accused
Wladimir of only fighting cowards and told journalists, "I have
declared war on the Klitschko family, first on Wladimir and
then Vitali, that is the plan and on June 20 the war will
begin... I have seen many of Wladimir's fights and they bored
me. Jab, jab, right. That is all he can do. He will live his
worst nightmare."
This is not the first time that Haye has been involved in
a scrap with the Klitschkos. Last December a scuffle broke out
in a restaurant when the Briton presented brother Vitali (37-2,
36 KOs) with a British edition of Men's Health magazine, which
had a photo of Haye posing with the decapitated head of
Wladimir.
Haye has repeatedly said that once he had finished with
Wladimir, he would go after his older brother Vitali to get his
WBC champion's belt.
