MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the southwest Urals republic of Bashkiria have seized more than 100 kg (220 lbs) of explosives from an abandoned house, a law enforcement source said on Saturday. The law enforcement source said the police, who were acting on information received, had searched the empty house and found the ammonium nitrate explosives in a shed. "Following a tip off three sacks containing 104 kilograms of ammonium nitrate explosives were found in a shed," the source said. Police are trying to trace the owner. Ammonium nitrate is a widely employed explosive substance used in the mining and construction industries. It is also known as a fertilizer explosive and has been used by a number of terrorist organizations. More news
