MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Alisa
Kleybanova broke former world number one Venus Williams' serve
seven times to send her packing from the Madrid Open in a
thrilling second round match.
The unseeded 19-year-old from Moscow outlasted her
opponent, ranked third in the world, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in a match
that lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes.
In a post-match interview Williams was quoted by the tour
website as saying: "It wasn't a good first set for me. I was
really flat, and that gave her confidence. After that she was
playing for the win."
On Friday, Russian world No. 1 Dinara Safina knocked
Williams out of the Italian Open at the semifinal stage on the
way to her first title of the year.
