ATHENA, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Greece expects to sign
an agreement with Russia on Friday on a Greek company's
participation in the South Stream gas pipeline project, the
Greek Development Ministry said on Thursday.
The agreement on setting up a consortium to build the
South Stream gas pipeline section across Greece will be signed
in Sochi by Russian energy giant Gazprom and the Greek gas
company DESFA.
The South Stream pipeline is designed to annually pump 31
billion cubic meters of Central Asian and Russian gas to the
Balkans and on to other European countries, but its capacity
could be increased by an additional 16 billion cu m. The
project involves Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Italy and
Greece.
