Armenia:

* Russia signed an agreement with Armenia granting it a $500 million loan for 15 years at a rate of LIBOR plus 3%

* Armenia's GDP dropped 9.7% in January-April to $1.9 million, the country's statistics service said

Georgia:

* Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili arrived in Azerbaijan on a two-day official visit, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said

Moldova:

* Moldova's ruling Communist Party failed to see its candidate elected as the country's new president, falling one vote short in a parliamentary ballot

Tajikistan:

* At least 23 people, including 10 minors, have died in Tajikistan since early April due to heavy rain, the Central Asian state's emergencies service said
