URGENT: Moldovan communists renominate Greceanii for president

CHISINAU, May 21 (RIA Novosti) - Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii has been renominated by the Communist Party as the country's new president.

Greceanii was one vote short on Wednesday of receiving the necessary 61 votes in the 101-seat parliament and failed to be elected as president in the first ballot. The 41 opposition members of parliament walked out of the chamber to boycott the vote.

If the second vote fails, parliament must be dissolved and a new parliamentary election held.
