MOSCOW, May 28 (RIA Novosti) - Manchester United were
lucky to only lose 2-0 to Barcelona in Wednesday's Champions
League final in Rome, Tottenham Hotspur's Russian international
striker said on Thursday.
Superbly-taken goals by Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi
destroyed United's hopes of becoming the first club to win
Europe's top club competition two years in a row as the Spanish
giants outplayed the English Premier League champions.
"Barcelona were a lot better," Pavlyuchenko told Sport
Express. "That kind of performance deserved more than a 2-0
win. I didn't recognize Manchester United - that was the first
time I had seen them so helpless this season."
"The Spaniards controlled the game completely. They didn't
allow their opponents anything and were stronger in every
position."
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson admitted after the
game that his side had deserved to lose.
"You have to give credit to a very good Barcelona team -
the better team won," he told a UEFA press conference.
