MOSCOW, May 28 (RIA Novosti) - Polish police detained
on Thursday a 22-year-old woman who made 462 phone calls to the
police emergency number in the space of two days, the TVN24
channel said.
The woman from the town of Elk in northeastern Poland was
unable to explain why she had decided to call the police
emergency number so often. She dialed the 997 number 230 times
on Tuesday and 232 on Wednesday.
Although she put the receiver down once connected, police
managed to trace her number.
She now faces a fine of about $450 or a prison sentence.
However, police officers have called for a harsher sentence,
saying that her phone prank put lives in danger.
