MOSCOW, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the Samara
Region, in Russia's Volga area, have seized 15.5 kg of heroin
from a suspected drug trafficker from Tajikistan, a local
police spokesman said on Monday.
Without disclosing details of the operation, the spokesman
said the batch was seized from the house of a 51-year-old Tajik
male and had a street value of 23 million rubles ($749,400).
"According to a police report, large deliveries of Afghan
heroin have been smuggled into Russia through Tajikistan by
rail," the police said.
An investigation is underway.
