MAKHACHKALA, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - The situation in
the North Caucasus remains complicated, with 308
terrorist-related crimes being committed since the year start,
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday at a meeting
with Russian Security Council members.
He said the crimes included "one terrorist attack in the
Chechen republic, 104-105 crimes connected with explosives.
Last year 312 criminal offenses were committed in the same
period."
Medvedev said 75 law enforcement officers, 48 civilians
and 112 bandits have been killed in the region since the
beginning of 2009.
