Russia's population is expected to decline to 110.1 million people by 2050, according to a survey of demographic trends by the Population Reference Bureau organization, published on Wednesday.
According to the research organization, last year the Russian population stood at 141.9 million people. The number of births was 12 per 1,000 people, while the number of deaths was 15. This means that population growth was minus 0.3 percent. If the situation with the birth and death rate does not change, already by 2025 the number of Russian nationals will decline to 129.3 million people, while by 2050 the Russian population will decrease to 110.1 million people, experts say. They say the biggest natural depopulation will be in Bulgaria, where it will make up 35 percent. Swaziland and Georgia are placed second and third on the list with 33 and 28 percent respectively. The Ukrainian population will decrease by 28 percent. Japan and Moldova will be placed fifth and sixth with 25 and 23 percent respectively. In Serbia this figure will make up 21 percent, while in Belarus, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina it will be 20 percent. More news
