Deputy Head of the Russia’s Federal Labor and Employment Service Ivan Shklovets announced to RIA Novosti that the upcoming New Year holiday period will be extended.
According to Shklovets, one can be "90% sure" that the holiday period will extend from January 1st through 10th as a result of other holidays being moved around in the 2010 calendar year (the actual legislation has not yet been formally passed).
Additionally, according to Resolution #869, passed on October 31, Saturday, February 27, 2010 will be a work day and Monday, February 22 will be a day off. Saturday, November 13, 2010 will be a work day and Friday, November 5 will be a day off. These changes are aimed at “the more rational distribution of vacation days” in conjunction with Russian holidays. In other words, to coincide with existing holidays and avoid having one working day in the middle of a longer block of days off.
