Duma Increased Deadline For Registration Of Foreigners in Russia

The Russian State Duma has passed in its first reading a draft law that would prolong the deadline for the registration of visas from three to seven days.

The draft law would also codify in law the current practice of using places of work as registration locations. It would also allow foreign workers who own their own homes to independently register visiting family members at their place of residence.

This draft law, “On Introducing Changes to Articles 2 and 20 of the Federal Law ‘On Migration Records of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons,” was proposed to the State Duma by the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional legislation Vladimir Pligin.
