Entry Into Russia For Foreigners

Article 26 of the Federal Law #114-ФЗ from August 15, 1996 “On procedures for exit from the Russian Federation and entry into the Russian Federation” (Collection of the Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation, 1996, #34, Article 4029; 2003, #2, Article 159; 2007, #1, Article 29; 2008, #19, Article 2094; 2011, #1, Article 29) has been amended with new grounds to refuse a foreign citizen entry for 3 years if the citizen, during the previous visit overstayed his/her temporary residence by 30 or more days. Exceptions are made for cases when leaving the country was impossible due to urgent medical treatment, serious illness, or death of close relative residing in Russia, or due to force majeure (extreme and unavoidable in these conditions circumstances) or other natural phenomena.
