Visas Canceled for Fans at the World Championship in Sochi in 2018

Federation Council approved the law about the Soccer (Football) World Championships of 2018. The document provides for simplified entry, exit, and migration registration procedures for foreigners arriving for the Championship.

Foreign athletes and fans will be able to enter Russia based on proof of identity and FIFA lists (which include ticketholders). Foreign volunteers will be able to enter the country with a simple humanitarian visa. All spectators holding tickets for the events of the Championship will be able to use trains free of charge between the cities hosting the events.

The law also relieves FIFA from Russian tax obligations, including its branch organizations, confederation and national soccer (football) associations.
