The first DreamWorks Park is set to appear in St. Petersburg in 2015

10.11.2014

UPDATE: This project has been approved by St. Petersburg for construction.

St. Petersburg will be the first Russian city where the REGIONS GC will build the first DreamWorks indoor year-round theme park.

On July 29, a meeting of the Investment Council under the auspices of Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, devoted to issues of improving St. Petersburg's business climate, took place. In particular, the topic of construction of the DreamWorks theme park for children and adults in St. Petersburg was discussed. For the city, the park's construction is a promising investment project. The REGIONS GC will be investing about RUB 15 billion into the project.

The DreamWorks Park in St. Petersburg will open its doors to the first visitors as soon as late 2015, and will be a place the entire family can enjoy. It will be located in the Krasnogvardeysky District of the city, at the intersection of Shafirovsky Avenue and Industrialny Avenue. It is the first project of this scale in Russia, and it will be implemented in accordance with the best global standards. The project will allow the city to reach a new international level and will attract tourists to St. Petersburg, not only from across all of Russia, but also from foreign countries.

Amiran Mutsoev, Member of the Board of Directors, REGIONS Group: "According to the studies we conducted, the DreamWorks Park in St. Petersburg will be visited annually by about 3 million people, with 15% of this number being foreign tourists; and their share could increase to 50% as time goes on."

Another important component of the new project is that it will create additional jobs, totalling over 3 thousand, for the city's residents.

Construction of the park is being carried out within the scope of an exclusive licensing agreement Signed between the REGIONS GC and DreamWorks Animation (Nasdaq: DWA). Construction work is scheduled to begin in April 2014.

The DreamWorks indoor theme park will be Europe's largest year-round indoor entertainment zone and will offer a unique experience that will completely immerse guests in the worlds of DreamWorks Animation’s most beloved franchises such as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. It will feature rides, state-of-the-art attractions, live spectacular shows, themed dining experiences and much more.

More than ten companies have been engaged on this project, compiling a world-class team of organizations to develop all aspects of the project, ranging from the building exterior to animation for the attractions within the park.

It is notable that the DreamWorks Theme Park will be a part of a single large-scale complex, which will also include a retail and entertainment centre, a multi-purpose concert and movie hall, a multiplex with an IMAX cinema, a three-star 400-room hotel, and a park and garden area with a theme sculpture park, ponds, and fountains. The complex will feature a single parking lot with 11 thousand parking spaces on the premises.

The total area of the theme park will be 70,000 sq. metres, and of the retail and entertainment centre, 100,000 sq. metres. The height of the park will be 35 metres, which is comparable to the height of a 13-storey building.
