Below is a summary of events in the Commonwealth of Independent States on February 10:

Belarus:

* Belarus does not intend to adopt the Russian ruble as the single currency of the Russia-Belarus Union State in the near future, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said

* The integrated Russian-Belarusian regional air defense network will be part of the integrated air defense network of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Russia's Air Force chief said

Georgia:

* Georgia is to demand that Abkhazia be declared an armaments-free zone, a Georgian minister said

* The South Ossetian Interior Ministry dismissed Georgian accusations that two OSCE monitors were abducted on Tuesday in the breakaway republic

Kyrgyzstan:

* The Kyrgyz parliament is unlikely to consider a bill on closing a U.S. military airbase this week, a senior legislator said

Ukraine:

* Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was not authorized to agree the gas contract with Russia in January

* Ukraine's prime minister said she would turn to the European Union for a probe into contracts on gas deliveries to Ukraine and its transit to Europe
