NEW DELHI, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - At least nine people were injured on Thursday in a fire in a Marriott Hotel in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, Pakistani Geo-TV reported. Witnesses said that an explosion had been heard before the fire started, according to the report. Most of the injured are staff and there have been no reports of deaths. According to preliminary reports, the fire may have been started by an explosion in the hotel's boiler, most likely due to noncompliance with health and safety regulations during recent remodeling. The blaze is centered on the second floor of the hotel. The hotel only recently reopened after repairs to damage sustained in a September 20 terrorist attack, when a truck loaded with explosives blew up at the gate without managing to drive up to the building. Dozens of people were killed in the attack and the building suffered significant damage. More news
