ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 16 (RIA Novosti) - A police officer has been injured in an explosion in Russia's southern republic of Ingushetia, a local law enforcement source said on Monday. The blast occurred late Sunday in the Sunzhensky district of Ingushetia. The explosive device went off as the police officer drove up to his house in his car, the source told RIA Novosti. The officer was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries. In a separate incident on Sunday, unknown assailants opened fire from grenade launchers on a grocery store in the Sunzhensky district, slightly damaging the building but there were no casualties, an Interior Ministry spokesman said. A search for the attackers is currently underway. Ingushetia has seen a rise in violence of late, including bombings and other attacks on police and officials, which have been linked to separatists in neighboring Chechnya and local criminal gangs.
