KRASNODAR, March 18 (RIA Novosti) - A light L-39 combat training aircraft crashed during the night in the Krasnodar Region of south Russia, police said on Wednesday. "According to our information, the aircraft crashed near the village of Kushevskaya. The wreckage has been found," a police source told RIA Novosti. The fate of the pilot is not yet known. The source said the pilot could have ejected and survived. "A search for the pilot is underway," he said. The Czech-made L-39 Albatross is designed for initial and advanced training of cadets at military flight schools. It was a standard jet trainer for the Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact countries. In February last year, two L-39 crashes occurred in the Krasnodar and Volgograd regions of southern Russia. More news
