JUBA (Sudan), January 27 (RIA Novosti) - A
high-ranking delegation from Sudan's autonomous southern region
is to visit Russia this year, Russia's special envoy to Sudan
said on Tuesday.
"Before the end of the year, a delegation from Southern
Sudan will arrive in Moscow and will hold top-level meetings,"
Mikhail Margelov said.
A long-running conflict between Sudan's north and south
has not been resolved despite a 2005 peace agreement between
the government in Khartoum and the Sudan People's Liberation
Movement in southern Sudan.
The UN Mission in Sudan was established in 2005 to monitor
the agreement. In 2011 Southern Sudan plans to hold a
referendum on the region's independence.
