ABU DHABI, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - The secretary general of the Organization of The Islamic Conference (OIC) will take part in an international forum on Afghanistan to be held in Moscow on March 27, the OIC said in a statement on Wednesday. The Moscow conference is to be held by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to discuss the "situation in Afghanistan and its influence on neighboring states." Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu is expected to deliver a report at the conference. The SCO is a regional security group that comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Russia took over the presidency of the organization last August. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status within the organization. The conference is also aimed at boosting "joint efforts by the international community to counteract terrorism, illegal drug trade and trans-border organized crime from Afghan territory." More news
