Below is a summary of events in the Commonwealth of Independent States on April 9:

Belarus:

* Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he would like to see dealings between Belarus and Russia become clearer and more transparent

* Russia will supply advanced S-400 air defense systems to Belarus under a recent agreement to create an integrated air defense network, a senior Air Force official said

Georgia:

* Georgian coast guards have released a cargo ship with a crew of 14 Russians on board, the Sovfracht maritime bulletin said

Moldova:

* Moldova is to expel three Romanian journalists following the recent riots in the capital Chisinau, a source in the country's intelligence services said

* Moldova's top election authorities plan to submit the results of the recent parliamentary elections for approval to the Constitutional Court on Friday, the Central Election Commission head said

Turkmenistan:

* Russian energy giant Gazprom said that the natural gas pipeline rupture during the night in Turkmenistan will not affect supplies to Russian consumers

* The rupture of a gas pipeline in Turkmenistan, which caused a suspension in Turkmen gas supplies to Russia, will be repaired within two to three days, a source in the Central Asian government said

Ukraine:

* Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has told ambassadors of G8 countries that he plans to dismiss Yulia Tymoshenko's government, Kommersant-Ukraina business daily reported

* Players from a Ukrainian premier league football team announced that they would go on strike after their wages were cut fivefold
