KIEV, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - At least two miners died and another 12 are missing following an accident at a coal mine in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk on Monday, a local emergencies spokesman said. "Two people have died," the spokesman said. A total of 51 miners were underground at the Skochinsky mine when the accident, believed to have been caused by a gas explosion, occurred. Some 39 miners managed to get to the surface. A search for 12 others is underway, he added. Ukrainian mines are considered extremely dangerous due to the use of obsolete equipment and numerous safety violations. President Viktor Yushchenko has ordered Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to set up a government committee to investigate the circumstances of the accident. More news
