Italian police seize 300 kg of cocaine on sailboat in Sardinia

MOSCOW, June 11 (RIA Novosti) - Italian police confiscated 300 kilograms (661 pounds) of high-grade cocaine on Thursday, on a sailboat docked off Sardinia.

The drugs were hidden in a secret hold on the vessel, which had arrived from South America. Both captains, who are from Rome, have been arrested.

If the cocaine had hit the European drug market, it could have fetched some 130 million euros ($182.4 mln.).

Authorities had been tracing the sailboat in an international anti-drug operation.
