Russia Prepares New Procedures for CIS Migrant Workers

The Ministry of Social Development of the Russian Federation has drawn up procedures for hiring migrant workers from CIS countries with visa-free travel to Russia.

The procedure envisions workers placed with specific employers for specific work positions (for certain occupations, with necessary qualifications) with specific work conditions and compensation. This placement will take place under the quota system.

The procedures will be carried out by specialized centers of migration assistance with the purpose of satisfying the Russian economy’s needs for skilled labor and providing employers experiencing difficulties in filling their positions with Russian workers, with foreign personnel with the necessary qualifications.
