Trade Procedures Agreements Between Russia and South Ossetia And Between Russia and Abkhazia Ratified

Federal Laws #354-ФЗ and #356-ФЗ on the ratification of agreements on trade regimes between Russia and South Ossetia and Russia and Abkhazia, accordingly, were ratified on December 21, 2013.

The trade agreements establish duty-free treatment for import of goods between Russia and South Ossetia and Russia and Abkhazia. A number of goods are exempt from the regime, including sugar, alcohol and tobacco products.

Under the agreements, export duties can be set for a number of goods in cases that come under the provisions of Russian law.

The agreements place limitations on gasoline and diesel fuel exports to South Ossetia and Abkhazia which will be exempt from export duties: for South Ossetia – not exceeding 35,000 tons/year, for Abkhazia – not exceeding 50,000 tons/year.
