KEMEROVO, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - One person has
died and the other has been rescued in an avalanche on the
border between the Republic of Khakassia and the Kemerovo
Region in southwest Siberia, the regional emergencies center
said Sunday.
The avalanche occurred early on Sunday, hitting railroad
tracks between the railway station of Chulzhan and Khakassia
when railway workers were carrying out repairs, the emergencies
center said.
The rescue operation has been completed, the emergencies
center said.
It was earlier presumed that five people had been trapped
in the avalanche.
