Gazprom decided to leave a project of gas network that it shared with a German partner Gascade, say Interfax sources. The same sources also report, that Gazprom top-management made a critical decision on this asset disposal, which might be sold this year. In fact, already there is a big number of potential bidders for this asset.
Russian gas monopoly was developing the project along with the German partner BASF/Wintershall during the last 2 decades. The deal had to be closed in 2015.
That tine Gazprom got a share from its German partner in the marketing partnership Wingas, WIEH, WIEE and a share in a joint venture of gas keeping Astora.
However, on a project’s way appeared the Third energy package of EU, according to which vertically-integrated companies mustn’t possess distribution networks. Gas-transport network Gascade includes 2,4 thousand kilometers of line pipes and 9 compressor stations with 29 hPa. Total volume of transportation amounts to 40 billion cubic meters a year.
