STOCKHOLM, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation from the upper house of Russia's parliament led by speaker Sergei Mironov begins on Thursday a two-day official visit to Sweden. The visit will be the Federation Council's first for 11 years, according to the Russian Embassy in Stockholm. However, Mironov attended a seminar of the Swedish Social-Democratic party in August 2008. "The resumption of top-level dialogue between parliaments will help strengthen bilateral contacts and boost cooperation between Russia and Sweden," the Federation Council's press service said. The Federation Council speaker will meet later on Thursday with his Swedish counterpart Per Westerberg, Enterprise and Energy Minister Maud Olofsson and International Development Cooperation Minister Gunilla Carlsson. Mironov is expected to be received on Friday by the leader of Sweden's Social-Democrats, Mona Sahlin. His visit will be crowned by a meeting with King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The Federation Council delegation made an official visit to Denmark on February 23-25. More news
