AMMAN, February 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Jordan
have initialed an agreement on cooperation in peaceful nuclear
energy, which will enable the Middle East country to develop
its energy sector, a RIA Novosti correspondent said on Thursday.
The document provides for the construction of a nuclear
power plant, a desalination station, research facilities and
nuclear physics personnel training centers. The agreement also
enables Moscow and Amman to cooperate in the production and use
of nuclear materials.
The agreement was initialed by Kamal Araj, commissioner
for international cooperation of the Jordanian Atomic Energy
Commission, and Nikolai Spassky, deputy general director of
Russia's Rosatom nuclear corporation.
The official signing ceremony is expected to take place in
Moscow in a month.
