ROME, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll following a powerful earthquake that hit central Italy early on Monday has reached 92, SkyTG24 reported. The rescue operation is ongoing with workers searching through the debris to try and find those trapped. Hundreds of injured people have been rushed to hospital. Some 50,000 people are reported homeless following the quake with around 10,000 buildings destroyed or damaged. The earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck the mountainous region of Abruzzo, to the northeast of Rome, at 3:32 a.m. local time (01:32 GMT) and was followed by a strong aftershock.
