ASTANA, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Kazakhstan and Iran
are proposing a ten-year moratorium on sturgeon fishing in the
Caspian Sea, the Kazakh president said on Monday.
"We [together with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad]
proposed announcing a moratorium on the fishing of sturgeon in
the Caspian Sea for the next 10 years, as poaching and
unlimited production of this fish threatens it with total
extinction," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
