he minister of energy of Russian Federation Aleksandr Novak and his Turkish colleague Berat Albairak have discussed progress assessment of possible development of gas transportation route from Russia to the border of Greece, reported media office of Ministry of energy of Russian Federation based on the results of a ministers’ meeting in Istanbul.
Earlier, the head of the Russian company Gazprom Aleksey Miller said that in November-December the company is planning to start meaningful discussions with european partners on the gas transportation project Poseidon in Greece, gas for this project might go upon “Turkish Stream”.
Poseidon – the project of marine part of gas pipe ITGI for connecting gas transportation systems of Greece and Italy. Gas pipe ITGI (Interconnector Turkey — Greece — Italy) with the length of 800 kilometers and a capacity of 8-10 billion cubic meters primarily was designed for transporting azerbaijanian gas on the route Turkey-Greece-Italy, however, in February Gazprom, Edison and DEPA signed a Memorandum of mutual understanding upon gas deliveries from Russia along the bed of Black sea to Greece and from Greece to Italy.
The sides claimed the intention of maximally using the works’ results, carried out by Edison and DEPA within the framework of the ITGI project Poseidon.
